The team arrived in the town of New Milford, Pennsylvania in the late evening to find many of its inhabitants deceased or otherwise compromised by subject [GL1-SUB.5/000-73.01.71-1]. The subject, commonly referred to as “the head of Uru-Hangyi”, is contained within a sealed metal crate that measures 4′ × 3′ × 3′. When undisturbed, the head is extra-naturally inert. When moved or exposed to atmosphere, extra-natural levels rapidly spike to dangerous levels, with an increasing radius of devastation.
Team made contact with [GL1-SUB.5/000-73.01.71-1]‘s watcher, who reported that a stranger had been asking questions regarding the artifact around the town approximately 90 days ago, but had left with no further incident. The watcher reported suspicious activity beginning 6 hours prior the team’s arrival, and the compromising of the civilian populace 4 hours prior.
[Note: Agent Rerun reported the woman commented that the subject had never behaved like this before, and she theorized it may have been connected to another powerful artifact being disturbed – possibly the Blackbirch Continuum, which Agent Rerun was at the time still in possession of.]
Further investigation of the town yielded several human corpses and graffiti reading, “THAT WHICH SLEEPS IS AWAKE.” While keeping in radio contact, Agents Pasiphae and Slick located and secured [GL1-SUB.5/000-73.01.71-1] in a children’s playground, Agent Drake acted as overwatch from the town hall steeple, and Agent Rerun procured a truck for transporting the artifact. Drake was attacked by an extra-naturally compromised civilian, but dispatched it successfully. He was unable to locate any signs of non-compromised civilian activity. While securing the artifact, Pasiphae and Slick were ambushed by 3 humanoid figures apparently made of clockwork and identifying themselves as the Clockwork Brothers. They inquired as to the whereabouts of their “father,” whom they referred to as “the Professor,” believing him to be in Agency custody. The triplets moved to attack when Pasiphae and Slick were uncooperative, but were caught by surprise when Rerun drove into their midst with the truck. One clockwork brother was destroyed upon impact, and one was injured enough to be easily dispatched afterwards. The remaining brother was destroyed by Pasiphae and Slick.
[GL1-SUB.5/000-73.01.71-1] was loaded into the truck, the team successfully regrouped and headed for the extraction point. During this period of time, extra-natural levels in the town reached critical levels, and the neutralization order was given. While en route to the town center’s coordinates, the helicopter carrying the standard-issue neutralization detonation device passed over the agents’ vehicle. As it became apparent the team wouldn’t clear the blast radius in time, Pasiphae convinced Agent Jefferson to exit the helicopter while it was in flight, landing on the truck and allowing the team to survive being on the fringe of the explosion through Jefferson’s passive extra-natural abilities.
Team and artifact recovered successfully.
Collateral damage within acceptable limits.
